Dynamics of reversals and condensates in two-dimensional Kolmogorov flows.
We present numerical simulations of the different two-dimensional flow regimes generated by a constant spatially periodic forcing balanced by viscous dissipation and large-scale drag with a dimensionless damping rate 1/Rh. The linear response to the forcing is a 6×6 square array of counterrotating vortices, which is stable when the Reynolds number Re or Rh are small. After identifying the seque...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional projectively-tameness over Noetherian domains of dimension one
In this paper all coordinates in two variables over a Noetherian Q-domain of Krull dimension one are proved to be projectively tame. In order to do this, some results concerning projectively-tameness of polynomials in general are shown. Furthermore, we deduce that all automorphisms in two variables over a Noetherian reduced ring of dimension zero are tame.
متن کاملUniqueness for Two-Dimensional Incompressible Ideal Flow on Singular Domains
We prove uniqueness of the weak solution of the Euler equations for compactly supported, single signed and bounded initial vorticity in simply connected planar domains with corners forming angles larger than π/2. In this type of domain, the velocity is not log-lipschitz and does not belong to W 1,p for all p, which is the standard regularity for the Yudovich’s arguments. Thanks to the explicit ...
متن کاملElastic waves and transition to elastic turbulence in a two-dimensional viscoelastic Kolmogorov flow.
We investigate the dynamics of the two-dimensional periodic Kolmogorov flow of a viscoelastic fluid, described by the Oldroyd-B model, by means of direct numerical simulations. Above a critical Weissenberg number the flow displays a transition from stationary to randomly fluctuating states, via periodic ones. The increasing complexity of the flow in both time and space at progressively higher v...
متن کاملtwo-dimensional magma flow
exact solution for steady two-dimensional flow of an incompressible magma is obtained. themagmatic flow is studied by considering the magma as a second grade fluid. the governing partialdifferential equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations by symmetry transformations. resultsare discussed through graphs to understand the rheology of the flowing magma
